Project Background

Protevos is a web-based application designed to simplify and modernize the process of will preparation and estate planning. In an era where many essential services have moved online, Protevos aims to provide a secure, intuitive, and efficient platform for individuals to prepare legally binding wills, seek estate planning consultation, and manage important documents without the need for lengthy in-person meetings with legal professionals.

Estate planning can often be seen as complex, time-consuming, and daunting for individuals and families, leading many to procrastinate or avoid it altogether. Protevos seeks to address these challenges by offering an accessible, user-friendly solution that walks users through the entire process of creating a will and accessing related legal services, with expert consultation available when needed.

Problem Statement

User Pain Points:

The legal process of will creation is intimidating, requiring individuals to navigate complex terms and unfamiliar legal concepts.
Many people procrastinate on estate planning due to the inconvenience and perceived effort required, especially for those with busy lifestyles or limited access to legal professionals.
The cost of hiring lawyers to draft a will can be prohibitive for many, especially for younger individuals or those with smaller estates.
Existing online tools either lack the legal compliance and customization necessary to meet different users’ needs or do not offer on-demand consultation services to ensure proper guidance.
Individuals are often concerned about the safety and long-term accessibility of their wills, as well as ensuring that their documents are legally binding and accessible to beneficiaries after their passing.

Solutions

Provide a guided, step-by-step process for creating a will, using clear, everyday language to explain legal concepts. Break down the process into manageable tasks so users don’t feel overwhelmed.

Provide customizable templates that cover various estate planning needs, including wills, trusts, living wills, and power of attorney documents, all of which can be adapted to individual circumstances.
Incorporate digital signature capabilities so that users can finalize their documents online, and offer options for online notarization to ensure the documents are legally binding.
